What is TATOP?
The Tokai Association for Tourism Promotion (TATOP) is an autonomous
regional body organized to manage tourism for the Tokai region.
Organizational members represent Aichi, Gifu, Mie, Shizuoka Prefectures,
Nagoya city (located in Aichi Prefecture) and 52 villages, towns
and cities. The Association is involved in various projects to encourage
and increase the number of foreign visitors to this area.
Promotional activities carried out to encourage
overseas visitors to the Tokai region

Logo Creation
To increase overseas visitor's awareness of our activities, we created
a logo representing and linking this region. By integrating this
logo on all TATOP related tourist resources we have moved towards
gaining higher recognition.
* Pamphlet Creation
 In
order to introduce tours and sightseeing resources, we created pamphlets
in English, Chinese and Korean. In cooperation with the Japan National
Tourist Organization (JNTO), we are carrying out various overseas
promotional activities.
* Video
To further deepen interest in the Tokai region we have created
a video, currently available in English, Chinese and Korean. This
video introduces each of the four prefectures - Aichi, Gifu, Mie,
Shizuoka - and Nagoya City.
* Overseas Promotional activities
Focusing on Asia, we carried out tourist seminars and tourist
related exhibitions in order to increase interest in and understanding
of the Tokai region.
* Other forms of promotional activities
Our homepage will open as of March 31, 2001 and through the
Tokai Welcome Card, foreign visitors can obtain discounts or complimentary
services when they present the Tokai Welcome Card at participating
facilities. Focusing on Asia, we are also running media campaigns
via TV media, newspapers and magazines. Furthermore, various cities,
towns and villages are creating themed tour routes, holding seminars
and symposiums for overseas visitors. This will help plan future
international tourist promotion activities as well as judge the
success of current activities. In the near future we shall be creating
Chinese and Korean versions of our English homepage so that our
Asian neighbors can access information even more conveniently.
