Nihon Daira
Nihon Daira is a 308 meter high hill that extends from Shimizu-ku to Suruga-ku. This great panorama encompasses a breathtaking view of the Southern Alps and Mt. Fuji. It was selected as the best spot among 100 of Japan's most beautiful sightseeing spots.

Yaizu Port
One of the largest deep-sea fishing bases in Japan, this port boasts a high volume of catch. ln the market, fresh bonito and tuna fish are auctioned off.

Bentenjima Kaihin Park
This is a park situated on a beautiful shallow sand beach. Visitors can dig for shellfish in the spring and enjoy sunbathing during the summer months in a tropical-like atmosphere.

Shimada City Rose Hill Park
The park prides itself on the 8,600 roses representing 300 different species from aIl over the world. The rose garden encompasses an area of 1.3 ha., and is laid out in a manner that nicely blends with the surrounding geographical area.

Greenpia Makinohara
This is a park based on the theme of tea and health. Here visitors can participate in a tour and learn all about tea - from tea picking to the production process.

The Aromatic Tea Hill Center "Cha-Pia"
This is a museum dedicated to the culture and production of tea. Visitors can try their hand at the tea making process while learning about Shizuoka and its long relationship with tea.

The Museum of Fragrance, Toyoda

This facility is located in the center of Toyoda-Town, which has declared itself as " the town of fragrance". The building is painted in different shades of green, symbolizing the blending of nature and culture. Exhibitions in the museum display many well-known, historical perfume bottles and instruments used in incense burning.





Kunozan Toushogu
According to his wish, Shogun leyasu Tokugawa (the founder of the Tokugawa government and family which was in power for over 250 years. He was also the man who finally unified Japan into one country) was buried here and a great shrine was constructed in his honor.

Manufacturing of Yamaha Pianos
Visitors can take a tour of the factory and observe the process in which grand pianos are manufactured. This is an extensive process and requires highly skilled workers.

Rengeji-ike Park
The theme of the park is dedicated to nature, specifically to "flowers, water and birds." It is located in the middle of Fujieda-City and boasts flowers all year round.

Ocha-no-Sato (Tea Village)
In this village, visitors can learn about the culture, history and customs of tea in Japan and other countries. The teahouse and garden of Enshu Kobori, a Daimyo tea master during the Edo period, have been reconstructed and are displayed in the village.

Kakegawa Castle
This castle was designed by Yasuhiro Asahina, the chief retainer of Yoshitada Imagawa, about 500 years ago and later completed by Kazutoyo Yamanouchi in the form of a modern castle town.

The Old Mitsuke School
Constructed in 1875, this is the oldest existing wooden elementary school building in Japan designed in the western style.

Arai Sekisho
Sekisho was a border control point during the Edo period. ln 1600, leyasu Tokugawa ordered the establishment of many boarder check points to maintain the security of Edo (Tokyo) and his family. Many travelers underwent strict scrutiny before being allowed to pass through the check point zone.
