Gifu Castle
Gifu Castle was once known as Inaba Castle and served as the residence for several great samurai warriors during the Warring Era, such as Dosan Saito and Nobunaga Oda. The view of Nobi Plain from the lookout on the top floor of the castle is a sight to behold.

Old streets in a historical city
These old streets date from the Edo period and are found on the eastern side of the Miya River in Takayama City. The streets are characterized by latticework and low eaves on buildings. The Takayama Festival, which is held in April and October, is considered to be one of the three most beautiful festivals in Japan.

Last Stop along the Oku no hosomichi
In 1689, Basho Matsuo, a Haiku master during the Edo period, started his famous trip in Edo and finished in Ogaki five months later. Basho wrote essays about this trip and later published them as "Oku no hosomichi".

Kokeizan Eihoji Temple
Tajimi City's Kokeizan Eihoji Temple has two national treasures on its grounds. The garden is laid out in a manner that leads viewers to feel like they are in the great outdoors - instead of a garden. It is also popular for its beautiful green leaves in spring and red leaves in autumn.

Shirakawa-go Gassho ViIIage
Shirakawa Gassho Village was designated as a World Heritage Cultural Asset by UNESCO in 1995. Shirakawa Village hosts the Doburoku Festival every year in October. Shrines in the village offer visitors a chance to taste the local Doburoku sake.

Seto River and White Wall Streets
Many older steets in Furukawa Town retain houses with characteristic exterior latticework. The Seto River flows through the town and past traditional whitewalled family warehouses. It is said that a thousand carp swim in this river that adds to the natural and man-made beauty of the area.





Gero Hot Springs

Gero's hot springs are one of three famous Japanese hot spring towns. There are a wide variety of hotels and inns with their own respective, individual hot springs throughout the town. Kabuki is performed by local amateur players to amuse visitors.


Shinhodaka Ropeway
Shinhodaka Ropeway is a 3,200-meter long ropeway in Kamitakara Village. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking scenery at a height of 2,200 meters from inside the double-level gondola.

Yanaka mizu no komichi

Hachiman Town is famous for the Gujo Dance, which is held in July and August every year. In addition to the dance festival, visitors can also enjoy strolling around the town, particulary along old streets that preserve the small streams, called "Yanaka mizu no komichi," for which the town is renowned.


Norikura Skyline
Norikura Skyline is a mountain roadway created at a height of 2,700 meters. This roadway is the highest passable road in all of Japan. Visitors can take in the beautiful scenery of the Northern Alps during the drive.

Kogen Resort no Sato
Surrounded by 3,000-meter mountains, such as Mt. Ontake and Mt. Norikura, Takane Village offers the ideal environment for a resort village. There are various mountain passes and spots made famous by the movie "Jokoaishi". One such example is Nomugi Pass. During the summer, a well known bonfire festival is held known as the "Nippon ichi kagiri himatsuri".
